Coaching Accreditation Information
Baseball SA is revamping its coaching accreditation model for season 2026-27 and beyond. Whilst still using the USA Baseball and Baseball Australia coaching framework and course work, we will also be adding practical sessions for coaches to work and learn from our Performance Pathways coaches Austin Gallagher and Josh Tols. This practical work will be accompanied by additional written assessments to ensure that the information and resources are being absorbed by the coaches, all with the aim of increasing the baseball knowledge across the board in our state to better develop our players.
How the system works:
All coaching accreditations and other courses and clearances must be uploaded to Baseball Australia’s coaching database, Janison (formerly known as Canopi), upon completion.
A Working with Children’s Check is required for all coaches (volunteer option).
All coaches must complete the Community Coaching Essential Skills Online Course from the Australian Sports Commission website.
Coaches must complete several courses on the Sport Integrity Australia/ Play By The Rules website. The list required courses vary depending on level of coach accreditation attempted. A complete list of required learning for each level of accreditation can be found below.
All coaches must agree to the Baseball Australia and Baseball South Australia Code of Conducts.
All coaches must complete the Level A Coaching Accreditation course on the USA Baseball Coaching Education website (this includes T-Ball and other modified baseball game coaches). This needs to be updated yearly.
All coaches (assistant and head coaches) of grades from Under 10’s through all senior grades must complete the Level B Coaching Accreditation course on the USA Baseball Coaching Education website, as well as the written Baseball SA assessment (80% score needed to pass).
All coaches for State League and Women’s League Division 1, 2 and 3, all club head coaches and all charter and state coaches must complete the Level C Coaching Accreditation course on the USA Baseball Coaching Education website, as well as the written Baseball SA assessment (80% score needed to pass).
All representative coaches (charter and state teams, both head and assistant coaches) must complete a practical component as part of their Level C Coaching accreditation and assessment, including 10 hours of practical work in the Performance Pathways offseason program, supervised by Austin Gallagher and Josh Tols. This needs to be conducted yearly.
What has changed?
The Community Coaching Essential Skills Online Course was previously known as the Sport Australia General Principles Course. Whilst the name has changed, the course is very similar and was previously mandatory.
Some of the Sport Integrity Australia courses were previously optional but have now made it mandatory.
Baseball SA Code of Conduct has been added as a mandatory requirement.
Assistant coaches for Division 1, 2 and 3 and charter programs must now complete the Level C Coaching Accreditation (previously required Level B).
Written assessments from Baseball SA for both Level B and Level C Accreditation (previously no written assessment for these accreditations).
Practical component for all representative team coaches (charter and state teams), previously there was no organised practical component.
Clubs must supply Baseball SA with a list of coaches for each grade for season 2026/2027 so that accreditation can be checked for compliance.
